He has a background in creating sector first-mover businesses from startup and developing them to maturity as market leaders, often in difficult operating environments. These included establishing Russia's first self-storage operation and Myanmar's first modern prawn fleet, introducing DX to S.E. Asia and Latin America, building Eastern Europe’s leading records management group and creating a charity twinning 200 schools between the UK and Asia/Africa. William’s numerous non-executive roles have been equally varied, ranging from chairman of one of the UK’s ten largest annual sporting events and senior advisor to a US fintech bank, to director of a British Government regulated business diploma awarding body in over forty developing nations and trustee of a charity managing a diverse portfolio of property, extractives, retail and events, in support of a five hundred year old heritage site and art collection. Â
In 1987, William established business management & advisory group OSG, initially specialising in emerging, frontier and post-conflict environments. Since then, OSG companies have provided hands-on management, non-executive and consulting services to businesses and other organisations operating in Africa, Asia, Europe/CIS, Latin America/Caribbean, Middle East and USA, in sectors including aviation, charity, corporate services, civil engineering & construction, courier, document exchange, extractives, education, fintech, fisheries, government advisory, information technology, insurance, logistics, manpower services, media, mobile technology, oil & gas support services, product wholesale, property, public relations, publishing, records management, renewables, self-storage, sports event management and trade finance. Before, his career in commerce, William was a Captain in the British Army.
